Traveling with Young Children

I just flew from Michigan to San Diego with my two year old and my seven month old. Without my husband. It was a juggling act for sure!

I'm looking forward to the days when the boys are old enough to have the attention span for a movie. But until then, it's a challenge to find quiet things to occupy them on a long flight.

I tapped into the power of the internet and found this gem: 20 Easy Travel Activities to Keep Kids Busy on an Airplane. (These are also great suggestions for rainy day activities!) I loved all of the hands-on suggestions, especially the busy wallet and the play-doh mats:

Because I didn't leave myself enough time to prepare for any of these activities, I mostly relied on trinkets from the dollar store to keep my toddler busy. Between that and pumping him full of snacks, we mostly survived the four hour flight.

Although it's not exactly fun to travel with kids at this stage, I feel better knowing some tips and tricks for next time.

What about you? Have you taken flights or long road trips with your little ones? I'd love to hear what worked for you!
