Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child is a wonderful way to practice and model giving with your young ones this holiday season!

Grab a shoebox (or preferably a sturdy plastic container), fill it with gifts for a girl or boy, and Samaritan's Purse will ship it overseas to a child in need, along with the good news about Jesus.

Here are a more detailed instructions on how to pack a box. (You can print your own boy/girl/age label here! or pick one up from me at our next MOPS meeting.)

And here are some excellent suggestions on what to put inside your shoebox.

Also very cool, if you pay $7 shipping, you can track which country your box is going to! And for kids who are little older, this coloring page and certificate are perfect:
I'll be collecting shoeboxes at our MOPS meeting on November 15th to bring to our local drop off site. There's lots of great stuff at the Dollar Tree and at Target!

Happy Giving!

Vote on our next book!

**UPDATE: Our new book for our November 17th meeting is A Window Opens **

We're meeting tomorrow for our very first book club meeting! Last month we chose a book called "The Status of All Things" and I think it's going to generate some great discussion!

But it's already time to pick our selection for our November 17th meeting! These three options are sure to please. I don't think we can go wrong! Please click the link to read the description, and cast your vote at the end of this post: (winning title announced on Saturday)

Easiest Dinner Ever

Today I'm sharing with you a go-to recipe when I just absolutely don't feel like cooking anything. It requires just three items from the grocery store, four if you're feeling fancy!

Easy Lentil Sloppy Joes

Hamburger buns
Manwich sloppy joe sauce (surprisingly vegan, haha!)
15 or 16 ounces of pre-cooked lentils

Optional: pickles or avocados to put on top

I got the lentils from the refrigerated section of Trader Joes. They also sell organic canned lentils at Sprouts and at Ralphs! Getting pre-cooked ones is a great lazy cook hack.

Pour the lentils into a frying pan, maybe with a bit of cooking oil.
Dump the can of sloppy joe sauce in the pan.
Scoop on top of hamburger buns.
Enjoy open faced with a slice of dill pickle or some avocado!

There it is! Embarrassingly easy!
